    Canada Express Entry Canada

2020 has been a great year for Canada immigration. Until the end of April, there were 13 rounds of invitations for the Express Entry system. It means that, in just four months, Canada had half of the average of draws (26.6) that happen every year since the Express Entry system was launched (2015).

Also, in just 13 draws, Canada issued 34,300 Invitations to Apply (ITAs). This amount represents more ITAs in four months than the total of any other year in the Express Entry history. The best year for ITAs before 2020 was 2017, in which 32,308 people received invitations from January to December.

How does the Express Entry system work?

The Express Entry is a management system for some of Canada’s most popular immigration programs. Through Express Entry, eligible candidates are ranked according to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

After being ranked, the candidate can receive an invitation to apply for Permanent Residency. From time to time, typically more than once a month, Canada immigration authorities launch a draw. In 2020, there were two rounds of invitation in January, two in February, three in March, and six in April.

For Express Entry, all applicants must qualify for at least one of these three programs: Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), or Federal Skilled Trade Program (FSTP). Also, some streams of specific Provincial Nominee Programs go under the Express Entry system.
